Frequently Asked Questions

  • Comfortable clothing appropriate for recovering from surgery: loose fitting pajamas, two-piece loungewear or sweats, tops and bras with front zip or button, bottoms with a draw-string or wide elastic waist, at least 1 extra surgical garment and 1 extra pair of TED hose. A pair of non-slip house shoes are recommended for hardwood or stone floors. You will want to bring the essentials: toothbrush, deodorant, makeup, and other personal grooming supplies. Most importantly, bring any medications or prescriptions that your doctor ordered for you prior to surgery. Leave medications in their original bottles. If you routinely use medications for any pre-existing condition, please discuss this with your doctor prior to surgery. If you are to continue taking these medications during your post surgical recovery, they should remain in their original bottles.

  • There is no exact answer to this question. Upon the conclusion of our one-on-one personalized Guest consultation, we are happy to offer our recommendation. However, the average stay is four days.

  • The Wallace takes pride in offering personalized services, therefore, booking online is not an option.

  • We will assist you in finding a relaxing, convenient stay through AirBnb, VRBO, etc.

  • The Wallace packages start with a minimum of 48 hours of care. This ensures you are attended to the first 24 hours after surgery through to your next day, post-op follow up appointment.

  • An additional companion is discouraged from being in and out the first 48 hours as it can be disruptive to your care and keep you from getting the rest needed for proper recovery. However, we recognize that it may not be feasible. Example, you are local and your spouse and children will be in the home. We recommend that your spouse keep their regular routine while The Wallace services are present. Your spouse will need their strength to help with the household and your recovery once we are gone.

  • Some patients find that they want to extend their assisted care for a day or two beyond their original booking. We do our best to accommodate extended reservations but are not always able to satisfy the request. Your host will be able to verify availability. But please heed the doctor’s recommendation as well as The Wallace consultant at the time of booking.
